Korean beef tacos were the highlight of my day trip to Bernie’s Backyard, a food truck park in Spring, located just 15 minutes south of The Woodlands, Texas. The Fettuccine Alfredo also got a thumb’s up from my 10-year-old helper.
Food trucks are pretty hip these days and with good reason – they are turning out some pretty delicious food, at reasonable prices and in a fun environment.
Forget the cowgirl stereotype, denim these days is hot, hot, hot and you don’t belong anywhere near a ranch or a farm if you’re wearing the cute items I’m about to show you.
I know here in Houston everybody starts looking for denim pieces in February, so they will have something “country” to wear to the Houston Rodeo.
I finally found one. Standing in line at the post office, I saw a small green heart sitting on the counter staring up at me.
I’d heard of the Peyton Heart Project and their efforts to spread small knitted hearts around the world, but I hadn’t been lucky enough to see one yet.
FRINALLY, it’s Friday! The weekend is here and I always like to have some fun on Fridays. Today, I thought I’d show you some of the things I’ve been enjoying lately. I own every single one of these products, so I wanted to share them with you.
For the last four years, I’ve been keeping a Texas Bucket List on my phone. You know, we all have one – a list of things you want to see and do either alone (lol!) or with our families. My list was specific to Texas since I knew we wouldn’t live here forever. As a Canadian, living in warm Texas has always felt like a bit of a honeymoon and I wanted to take full advantage of it.
My daughter’s swim team held its annual banquet last weekend. It’s the one night of the year when they ditch the swim suits and get dressed up to celebrate the hard work and achievements of the past season.
Swimming is an amazing sport, and competitive swimming trains true athletes. I’m continually impressed with the discipline, athleticism and mental toughness it takes to be a competitive swimmer.
My daughter came home the other night from a Sweet 16 party for two of her friends and, from what I can tell, this party was da bomb!
There were food trucks, kayaks, a DJ, lots of dancing, and get this…a craft station where the girls were able to make their own floral crowns. What a cool idea!! Who said 16-year-olds are too old for crafts…especially one that is so trendy these days and filling up Instagram feeds everywhere??
Hey y’all! (I’m going to use that as much as I can these last few months that I’m in Texas)
I love Kendra Scott jewelry – it’s on trend, it can be simple or ornate and I think the price point is decent. It’s not the kind of jewelry that you’d cry for days if you lost, but at the same time, it makes a statement and is really fun to wear. Her use of color in her jewelry is beautiful, in my opinion.
After several years away, it felt great to be back in Alberta. The mountains were calling us, so we were excited to head west from Calgary and see the Rockies up close. And hey, it doesn’t hurt that American dollars go further in Canada these days. 😉
We decided to bypass Banff and head straight to Lake Louise, which is a little less commercial and one of our favorite ski hills.
