I know you're a modern mom who cares about her family, has a great sense of style and loves to have fun. We already have so much in common. Don't miss a post and be sure to sign up for blog updates!
I received this question from a reader the other day about girls and clothing. I thought it would make a great topic for a blog post because, honestly, it’s something I’ve struggled with too.
These days my girls are drooling over Brandy Melville clothes…have you heard of this brand? It’s one of the hottest lines of teen clothing right now, but I think their styles and marketing are contributing to such an unhealthy and unrealistic body image for our daughters.

This post was originally published in September, and I wanted to give you a winter update. Joe Fresh has partnered with YummyMummy.ca to give customers a 25% online discount with the code YUMMY25. You can’t beat that! This code is good until November 19th.
I think there is something truly special about three sisters. I came from a family of three sisters, and then as luck would have it, I ended up having three daughters! When I moved to Calgary, Alberta I became enthralled with a trio of peaks near Canmore known as the Three Sisters.
Do your kids roll their eyes and complain when they find out you just opened your own account on Instagram, Snapchat or VSCO?
No doubt you’re feeling pretty proud and tech-savvy because you finally figured out what a hashtag is, how to send and receive a snap, or add a filter that gives you bunny ears or a flower crown? At least I know I was!
I can still remember leaving a note in my mother’s bathroom informing her I got my period. I don’t know why I was so embarrassed to tell her in person. I guess, despite having two older sisters, we just didn’t talk about it much back then. And I don’t think we were the only ones.
Athleta is one of my favorite places to buy work out clothes, so you can imagine how excited I was to learn that the store now has a line of active wear for young girls.
Athleta Girl is designed for girls between the ages of 6-14 with the sporty girl in mind, but this stuff is cute enough that it can be worn anywhere!
My daughter came home the other night from a Sweet 16 party for two of her friends and, from what I can tell, this party was da bomb!
There were food trucks, kayaks, a DJ, lots of dancing, and get this…a craft station where the girls were able to make their own floral crowns. What a cool idea!! Who said 16-year-olds are too old for crafts…especially one that is so trendy these days and filling up Instagram feeds everywhere??
